BPL Opens Center In Cleveland, OH
February 8, 2017
We are proud to announce the newest addition to the BPL Plasma Family: Cleveland, Ohio. The Center, which opened its doors on February 27, 2017, has been operating Monday – Friday, 12:00pm – 6:00pm, under controlled conditions meaning, we use appointments to control the rate of arrival of donors, and limit the number of donors in process at any given time. We have augmented the Center’s staffing with experienced colleagues from our existing Centers in each area of operations, and have had the presence of members from the New Center Development team, Regional Operations, Field Quality, and Field Training.
Since opening, the team has conducted 244 procedures and collected close to 200 liters of plasma! They’ve had no safety incidents and have experienced approximately 41 quality events, resulting in a single investigation. Thus far, there have been no overdraws, and the team is getting return donors through the process in 76-100 minutes, and new donors in 136- 240 minutes.
Cleveland is the first new center that BPL Plasma has opened since June, 2015, and it required a considerable amount of teamwork. Bart Smith led the project, and he worked with colleagues in every functional area from start to finish. Legal helped egotiate and secure the lease; Facilities managed the site build-out and sourcing of local services; HR helped with recruiting, benefits administration, and new hire orientation; Finance helped with tax and business registrations, travel expense reimbursements, and payroll; IT delivered the network infrastructure, ePro, telephone, and installation of PCs; Purchasing coordinated the delivery of all equipment, furniture, fixtures, soft goods, and other supplies; Quality helped with equipment and freezer validation, SOP development, Change Control, and final document preparation and review; Marketing created promotional materials, donor posters, and the new donor fee structure; and several existing Centers- Austin 1, Austin 2, Bio-Save, Bowling Green, Bryan, Clearwater, Phoenix, San Marcos, Stillwater and Wichita Falls – all either hosted and helped train the Medical Supervisors and Center Management team, or sent resources to provide post-opening, on-site support. And of course, the New Center Development Team, Field Quality, and Corporate and Field Training handled the set-up of the Center and on-site training delivery to the Center’s staff. As you can see, substantial contributions came from all groups in our Company to make opening this Center a success. Thank you to everyone involved for your determination, perseverance, and hard work! Welcome to the BPL Plasma family Cleveland!
